Extra product information
This system consists of a portable pump unit connected to a sensor pad that is underneath the bacteriostatic, polyurethane mattress. The sensor pad automatically adjusts the air pressure output of the pump to suit the users weight, size and position.
The mattress features 20 polyurethane cells providing support on either alternating or static modes. Cells are grouped into:
3 head cells (remain at constant pressure for pillow stability and comfort),
8 torso cells (combination of alternating and static pressure to prevent ‘bottoming’ when lying and sitting),
4 thigh cells (dynamically cycle for max pressure relief),
5 heelguard cells (specially powered to maximise pressure relief under heels).
The pump:
has an on/off switch and an automatically operated pressure control. Lights indicate low and high pressures, pump failure and the requirement for service. There is an audible alarm which also indicates pressure extremes and a static air pressure button which results in all of the chambers inflating and being maintained at a constant low pressure. This feature provides a stable surface for nursing procedures and transfers.A comfort control dial enables a soft or firm air pressure to be selected.
Dynamic mode- supplies air to each alternate chamber resulting in a 10 minute cycle of alternative inflation and deflation.
Static mode- all cells equally inflated so support surface remains constant.
PUMP/MATTRESS CONNECTORS have a “snap-lock” mechanism to minimise accidental disconnection.
COVER a vapour permeable, water resistant, two way stretch cover with handles for transfer, hook and loop tape straps for attachment to the bed frame and clips for holding a top sheet loosely in place.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS The overlay may be sponged down. Infection control guidelines are available. The pumps can be repaired. If an air chamber is punctured the whole air chamber can be removed and a replacement chamber press studded into place.
EMERGENCY RELEASE Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is possible without having to remove the Nimbus mattress from the bed. A pull ring release deflates the mattress in approximately 10 seconds to enable resuscitation procedures to be performed.
TRANSPORT FEATURE is available. Once switched to transport mode, the mattress is sealed and the tubeset can be disconnected. The cell pressure will equalise so that the patient is fully supported during transport. In this mode the mattress will remain inflated at a low pressure for 12 hours.
Caution
Contraindicated for persons with unstable spinal fractures.
Patients with other unstable fractures or conditions which may be complicated by soft/moving surface should seek advice from a healthcare professional.
